Super Mario Bros. 3 was an event where Bowser tried to take over the Mushroom World.

History

The Mushroom Kingdom is now in an era of peace thanks to Mario and Luigi's efforts. However, all is not well in the neighboring Mushroom World. Bowser is in the process of taking over the seven kingdoms in the region, now enlisting the help of the seven Koopalings, who each took over one of the kingdoms. They also stole each king's magic wand, which they used to turn them into animals. Princess Peach and Toad, hearing about the trouble, asked Mario and Luigi to venture into the Mushroom World and save each of the kings. [1]

Mario and Luigi traveled through the seven kingdoms, defeating each Koopaling and restoring each king to their true form. However, as they were saving the seventh and final king, Mario and Luigi received a letter from Bowser stating that he kidnapped Princess Peach while Mario and Luigi were busy saving the Mushroom World.[2] Mario and Luigi then headed to Dark Land, where Bowser's temporary castle was. They defeated him there and rescued Princess Peach.

Sometime after these events, Bowser attempted to conquer World-e, but Mario and Luigi stopped his invasion.
