Lubba is a large purple Luma leader of a Luma crew and pilot of the Starship Mario. During Super Mario Galaxy 2, Lubba teamed up with Mario to pursue Bowser and rescue the Power Stars pulled from his ship.[2][3]
Description
Lubba is a large purple-colored Luma with light-blue eyes and a glowing spot on the top of his head. He wears pants with a blue and light-blue checkerboard pattern. He's extremely skilled in spaceship engineering and is proud of the technical skills of his crew.[4][5] He is allergic to Honeybees.[6]
History
Past events
At some point in the past, Lubba met Rosalina.[7] It's perhaps implied that he was under her care when he looked like a regular Luma.[8][9] After leaving Rosalina's care, Lubba became the leader of a separate Luma crew, living together on a small planetoid they converted into a spaceship.[10][11]
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Before the events of Super Mario Galaxy 2, Lubba was attacked by Bowser, who blasted the ship with meteors, stole its stars and threw many of the Lumas overboard.[12] Lubba first met Mario when he arrived on the ship carrying a Power Star and Young Master Luma with him. Seeing that the apricot Luma trusted Mario, Lubba proposed a deal: Mario would collect Power Stars to be used for fuel, and Lubba would give him control of his spaceship so he could pursue Bowser.[13]
During their journey through the universe, Lubba would stay aboard Starship Mario while Mario would rescue Power Stars from different Galaxies. They travelled through 6 different regions, bringing aboard many different companions, to which Lubba would comment on.

On their way back from the Center of the Universe, Lubba would join Mario on revisiting many of the Galaxies they first travelled through, later joining them in the Mushroom Kingdom to celebrate.[14]
Mario Golf: World Tour
During the Mario Golf: World Tour tournaments, Lubba would join Rosalina in commemorating whenever she scored an Eagle.[15]
Personality
Lubba has a laid-back yet cheerful personality, always making puns and using informal language when talking. He seems to have a negative opinion of Gearmos and Jibberjays.[16][17][18] On the other hand, he seems to regard Whittles positively, while thinking that Star Bunnies are the cutest thing in the galaxy.[19][20]
