Mario Party 4 was the birthday celebration of everyone invited.

History

The Party Cube has arrived, with everyone staring in horror.[1] The Party Cube opens up to reveal a number of hosts inside. It turns out they have invited the lot to celebrate all of their birthdays, but the only way to get their presents is to win the boards they have made.[2]

Each host made a board based on their preferences; the Toad host loves amusement parks, the Shy Guy host wants to go on real adventures, the Goomba host is into high-class, the Boo host wanted to scare everyone who'd set foot in his board, and the Koopa Troopa host wanted to build a beautiful tropical resort.[3][4][5][6][7]

But there's always a catch at the end of winning a board. In each case, it's to beat the host at a selected minigame.[8] All of their presents ended up being furniture.

After getting all of the presents from each host, Bowser smashes into the scene to say he stole all of the Party Star's furniture.[9] In order to get them back, they have to go play at Bowser's board of his own making (with assistance from Koopa Kid).

After winning the board, the Party Star is brought to a floating satellite to face off against Bowser.[10] After being defeated, Bowser walks away while leaving a Bowser Vase behind as a present, begrudgingly wishing the Party Star a happy birthday.[11][12]

The Toad host recovers and reveals that their last birthday present to the Party Star is a whole constellation shaped after themselves.
