SNES Mario Circuit 2
Mario Circuit 2 is a racetrack that made its debut in Super Mario Kart as the fifth course of the Mushroom Cup. It later was reused in Mario Kart: Super Circuit as the first course of the Extra Flower Cup, in Mario Kart 7 as the second course in the Banana Cup, and in Mario Kart Tour in a variety of cups across a variety of tours. It is located in Donut Plains in Dinosaur Land alongside all the other Mario Circuit tracks that debuted alongside it and the new ones created for Mario Kart Tour.
Appearance
Mario Circuit 2 has a simplistic layout. It is made of a paved road on a dirt field. The course starts with an immediate series of turns that lead to a straightaway. There are a few more turns past some Warp Pipes. This course also has several oil slicks. At the end of a lap, there is a ramp that makes the racers jump over a previous section of the course. Starting with Mario Kart 7, this ramp is a Glider Ramp. In the background, you can see tree-covered hills also visible from Donut Plains 1.
Alternative Layouts
This course has three other layouts that were used during Mario Kart Tour.
Reverse
The Reverse variant is mostly identical to the regular version, except driven backwards. In addition, the jump at the beginning now has a Glider Ramp to allow racers to pass it, and there is now a ramp in the off-road for racers with a speed-boosting item to use[1].
Trick
The Trick variant has extra ramps: three sets of escalating ramps at the three final turns. In addition, there is a Chain Chomp near the beginning of the course, and the Glider Ramp near the end has been replaced with a platform allowing racers to drive across the previous section[2].
Reverse/Trick
The Reverse/Trick variant is nearly identical to the Reverse variant; however, it has the replacement Glider Ramp from the end of the Trick variant. There are several other ramps scattered throughout, as well as Piranha Plants. There is also a big platform at the end that allows the racers to cut off the final turn[3].
