Placement
- In the original Japanese manual of Super Mario World, Dinosaur Land is described to be of the far south.[2]
- This was removed in the Japanese manual for Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World.
- In the original Japanese version of Super Mario RPG, an orange lady Toad at Marrymore mentions a previously married couple honeymooning to a "southern island", implied to be Yoshi's Island.[3]
- It is important to keep in mind that several islands throughout the franchise have been described as "southern" despite visual evidence proving otherwise. Keelhaul Keel,[4] Lavalava Island,[5] and Isle Delfino are described as being southern.[6] It is more likely to consider that "southern" is more descriptive of its tropical climate rather than anything with directional basis.
- In the opening cutscene of Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World, Mario, Luigi, and Peach arrive via hot air balloon from the southwest, placing the Mushroom Kingdom southwest of Dinosaur Land.[7]
