Super Mario Kart

Super Mario Kart was the first Mario Kart racing tournament.

History

This was the first Mario Kart Grand Prix held, meaning that several elements were in its infancy; only one-seater, metal pipe frame go-karts were being raced on and only two engine sizes were used; 50cc or 100cc. Focus instead was only given towards the individual drivers, of which the roster was spareful with:

• Luigi
• Princess Peach
• Yoshi
• Bowser
• Donkey Kong Jr.
• A Koopa Troopa
• Toad

The Grand Prix was held over 20 race courses split into 4 cups, all of them run by Lakitu. There were also four battle courses, which only hosted Balloon Battle.

• Bowser appears here, racing alongside Mario. This must take place after Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars as in that game Peach questions how Mario can trust Bowser.
