Wario World was Wario's vengeance quest to return his treasure and castle after it had been stolen by the Black Jewel.

History

Wario once stole the sealed Black Jewel in one of his adventures. The Black Jewel, now awakened due to a red moon rising and filled with Wario's negative greed energy, decided to turn all of Wario's jewels into evil spirits and create a kingdom of his own.[1][2][3]

This went unnoticed by Wario, as he was laughing in his throne room. Suddenly, the Black Jewel's magic took effect and the tremor that resulted caused Wario to land in a completely different world, one created by the Black Jewel from Wario's castle.

Angry, Wario goes through each of the monsters to get his treasure back and to smack the Black Jewel 100 times. Along his quest for vengeance, he frees the Spritelings who have sealed the Black Jewel long ago. Wario eventually completes the full key to the showdown with the Black Jewel.[4] Its arrival turns the entire hub into an arena, and a big fight ensues that ends in Wario's victory.[5] After destroying the Black Crystal, the Spritelings Wario had saved offered to use their freed numbers to rebuild Wario's castle.

Timeline

  • At the beginning of this title Wario’s Castle has just finished construction, placing this game almost directly after WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!.
  • After collecting all of the treasure in each area, Wario will get a set of Microgames from WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! each with an image of a member of WarioWare, Inc. staff, placing this game after that title.
  • Wario has gotten more treasure since the events of Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, as evidenced by the Black Jewel’s appearance. This indicates that some other Wario adventures occur between then and now.
  • In this title, a cockroach can be seen inside Wario's head, likely placing it after the events of Wario Land 4.
