Abstract
World 1, 2 and 3 from Donkey Kong Land take place on Donkey Kong Island with Gangplank Galleon Ahoy! being at the bay separating the Ruins Area, Kremlantis being on the Vine Valley and Monkey Mountains in the Cliff Area.
Arguments
- Argument 1:
The manual of Donkey Kong Land states that King K. Rool scattered the bananas in “all new areas“ on Donkey Kong Island. It also reveals that some of the places visited may look familiar but have a different layout, making it clear it takes place on Donkey Kong Island.
- Argument 2 - Gangplank Galleon Ahoy location:
In a previous theory it was argued that Kongo Jungle from Donkey Kong Country is located in the jungle covering the Ruins Area from Donkey Kong Country Returns.
Donkey Kong Land starts at Gangplank Galleon Ahoy! making it likely it is near the Kongs' Banana hoard from Donkey Kong Country.
One of the jungle levels is called “Congo Carnage“ connecting it by name with Kongo Jungle. The Kongo from Kongo Jungle written with a C instead of K in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour's Congo Canopy too, so this isn’t unusual.
The large bay of the Ruins Area from Donkey Kong Country Returns makes a perfect fit for the Gangplank Galleon.
- Argument 3 - Kremlantis location:
Kremlantis is said to be an almost completely submerged ruin site. The ruins look almost exactly like ruins that can be find in Vine Valley.
Kremlantis features a giant Clambo statue on the overworld map. The level Nautilus Chase features lots of Clambos, the boss of Kremlantis is a Giant Clam. In Vine Valley a level called Clam City can be find featuring many Clambos too.
- Argument 4 – Monkey Mountains location:
Monkey Mountains has some eroded stone pillars in the foreground oft he overworld map and further away some bigger mountains. This mimics the landscape oft he Cliff Area from Donkey Kong Country Returns almost perfectly. From multiple levels in the Cliff Area multiple mountains can be find in the background.
In the level Mountain Mayhem many boulders fall on the Kongs path. In the Cliff Area of Donkey Kong Country Returns a level called Boulder Roller offers a similar threat.
The Boss of Monkey Mountains is a Mad Mole. Even though moles do not appear in the Cliff Area, lots of mining equipment and some lost mine shafts can be found there. In Donkey Kong Country Returns Moles with Hard hats, alike the Mad Mole mine the Cave Area in Donkey Kong Country Returns.
