Modern history starts with 100 years with the birth of Dr. Crygor and continues until the most recent event in the Timeline.
Ancient history goes back 3,000 years ago with the rise of the Tribe of Ancients.
Legend
- White: Events that have a strong case for a specific placement.
- Cyan: Events that lack a definite placement, but which have a known range.

- Kamek attacks the stork carrying Mario and Luigi to their home, kidnapping Luigi and causing Mario to fall to Yoshi's Island (Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island)
- The Yoshi clan defeats Kamek and a powered-up Bowser, reunites Mario with Luigi, and rescues the captured stork, who then sets out to deliver the brothers to their home
- Bowser takes over Egg Island (Yoshi's New Island)
- The stork delivers Mario and Luigi to the wrong home (Yoshi's New Island)
- Kamek and four Toadies attack the stork, kidnap Luigi, and cause Mario to fall to Egg Island
- The Yoshi clan once again defeats Kamek and Bowser, as well as Bowser's adult self from the future, frees Egg Island, and reunites Mario with Luigi and the stork, who sets out to deliver the brothers to the correct home

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (Past)
- Mario and Luigi from the present get help from their future selves to defeat the invading Shroobs
- The Koopa Kingdom takes and freezes the defeated Shroobs and puts them in a locked freezer in Bowser's Castle (Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story)
- Professor E. Gadd's lab on Thwomp Volcano is destroyed, and he moves to a lab in Boo Woods[25]

- The invasion spreads beyond the Mushroom Kingdom, starting with Warp Pipes leading to New Donk City
- Mario and Luigi battle Koopa Troopas, Fighter Flies, and Sidesteppers in the sewers of New Donk City (Mario Bros. (Arcade))
- Mario and Luigi take a Warp Pipe to the Mushroom Kingdom and save Princess Peach and the Mushroom Retainers from Bowser[53] (Super Mario Bros.)
- Bowser kidnaps Peach and the Mushroom Retainers again, this time taking them to a parallel dimension[54] (Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels)
- Bowser invades the Mushroom Kingdom again with a much smaller army than the previous time (Super Mario Bros. (Game & Watch))
- Mario & Luigi change their permanent attire, now wearing blue overalls and red and green shirts respectively.[55]
- Mario participates in a Formula 1 grand prix on Tour Earth (Famicom Grand Prix: F-1 Race)
- Mario juggles hearts, stars, and bombs with a Lakitu and a Hammer Bro. (Mario the Juggler)
- Bowser and the seven Koopalings take over the seven kingdoms of the Mushroom World[56] (Super Mario Bros. 3)
- While Mario and Luigi are helping the seven kingdoms, Bowser kidnaps Peach again and takes her to a castle in Dark Land
- Mario and Luigi defeat Bowser and rescue Peach
- Bowser attempts to conquer World-e, but Mario and Luigi stop him (Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3)
- Bowser rampages on Yoshi's Island, prompting Hongo to seal the entire island into the Forbidden Pop-Up Book (Yoshi Topsy-Turvy)
- Bowser is defeated by Yoshi, and Yoshi's Island is returned to normal
- Mario, Luigi and Peach go on a vacation to Dinosaur Land. Bowser kidnaps Peach while the Mario Brothers are taking a nap. He also traps all the Yoshis in eggs. (Super Mario World)
