Mario Sports Superstars were a series of tournaments of 5 completely different sports, but played by the same players.

History

Mario and friends were up to play sports, but not just one sport; they would play five sports: soccer, baseball, tennis, golf, and horse racing. That last one is notable, as that is the first time the gang would ever try horse racing as noted by the Mario Sports Press.

The member roster for all these five sports goes as follows:

During soccer or baseball, supporting teammates could either be Toads, Koopa Troopas, Magikoopas, Shy Guys, Goombas, Bros. using the Hammer Suit or Boomerang Flower, Spikes, and Stone Spikes. As goalies for soccer or regular teammates during baseball there are Boom Boom and Pom Pom.

Soccer

The Mario Sports Press reported on a 3-2 win between Mario's team and Bowser's at the Mushroom Cup. It was a comeback win, implying Bowser had the lead for quite some time.[1]

Baseball

The Mario Sports Press's top headline for baseball was focused on Bowser's team, his game being a tough play that would be remembered in history. Next to the top headline were several standings, like a 4-3 win for Mario's team against Wario's, a 1-0 for Peach's team against Daisy's, and a 2-5 for Luigi's team against Bowser Jr.'s.[2]

Tennis

The Mario Sports Press reported on a Singles round between Mario and Peach, with Peach winning 2-1.[3]

Golf

"Mario Surges Ahead", reports the Mario Sports Press, as he dominates the final stretch to win the Star Cup tournament.[4]

Horse Racing

"As Star is Born!" says the Mario Sports Press, as Daisy won first place at one of the tracks in the Flower Cup. Bowser came second, Mario third, Yoshi fourth, Donkey Kong fifth, and Peach 6th.[5]
