Mario Golf (GBC) was the progression of Kid's rise to being a professional golfer, including being able to meet Mario and play against him and his friends in a golf tournament.

History

Kid, recently enrolled, begins his first day in the Marion Club as a student to become a professional golfer.[1] He gets introduced to the Marion Club pro and the Caddie Master. Kid gets to hear about Mario's status in the golf world; being the golf master, the idol of all golfers that everyone aspires to be.[2] The Marion Club pro says that, to meet Mario, they'll have to become the grand champion of golf.

Now being part of the Marion Club that could help him with a variety of techniques and terms, Kid could then play in a variety of tournaments. Winning tournament after tournament in the Marion Club, the Palm Club, the Dune Club, and the Links Club, Kid was now seen as Grand Champion of golf.[3]

Being the top player garnered the attention of Princess Peach, who invited Kid to a tournament via a letter that fell from the sky in a rainbow flash.[4][5] After going through a rainbow portal and being shot off of a cannon by Toads and a Bob-omb Buddy, Kid enters Mario's World.[6] There, Kid enters Peach's Tournament, coming out as the victor.[7]

Unfortunately, if the information got out that Kid managed to beat Mario, every golfer's dream of beating Mario would get snuffed out, and golf with no dream is no golf at all. As a compromise, the Marion Club and Kid make the decision to cover up the event for a while; have it leak down over time, reducing the shock of golfers and saving Kid's reputation at the same time.[8] Some day, people will get to know of Kid beating Mario.
