Princess Peach is often kidnapped by Bowser or, on rarer occasions, others. This common occurrence leads fans to wonder why her castle doesn’t have better security - or even ask if she just likes being kidnapped. It’s not that simple, however. This page will go in depth about each kidnapping and explain why they keep happening.

Yoshi’s Island DS

The Kamek of a future period in time kidnapped every single baby of this time period, which included Princess Peach herself. This kidnapping attempt actually failed, as the Stork arrived to attack the Toady holding her.[1] This attack happened late at night and was a surprise attack.

Later on, an Ukiki kidnapped her, but was saved by a Yoshi holding onto a Baby Donkey Kong.[2][3] Peach couldn't defend herself in this instance because she was an infant baby being held by developed primates. The Yoshi also couldn't catch up due to the sudden arrival of Baby Donkey Kong landing on their back.

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (Past)

Super Mario Bros.

Bowser invaded the Mushroom Kingdom and kidnapped Peach for the first time. His spell included turning the kingdom's inhabitants to stone and horsetail plants. Peach held the magic to undo Bowser's spell, but was captured by the Koopa King. The Mario Bros. arrived later to save the kingdom.

As mentioned prior, anyone that could've stepped up at the moment of invasion was turned to stone.

Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels

Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels has Bowser enact the same plan, though this time bringing her to a parallel world. As this was the same spell, anyone that could've stepped up at the moment of invasion was turned inanimate, with the Mario Bros. being able to stop the Koopa Troop moments later.

Super Mario Bros. (Game & Watch)

Peach was kidnapped by Bowser through an unknown method and motive. All throughout Mario's adventure, Peach aided him by sending magical illusions of herself to guide him.

Super Mario Bros. 3

Bowser kidnapped Peach while Mario & Luigi were distracted saving the other kingdoms of the Mushroom World. Bowser's letter implies Peach was kidnapped to antagonize the Mario Bros.[4]

Super Mario World

Peach was on vacation to Dinosaur Land with Mario & Luigi. While distracted flying their Capes, Peach was kidnapped and taken to the Valley of Bowser. As this was a vacation, Peach wasn't under suspicion of being kidnapped, especially in a location far away from the Mushroom Kingdom.

Super Mario RPG

Peach was kidnapped by Bowser while spending time alone, picking flowers infront of Mario's house. When Exor sliced Bowser's Castle and scattered everyone across the Mushroom Kingdom, Peach was kidnapped again by Booster and taken prisoner into Booster Tower, planned to be forcefully wed with him. When she was rescued, she proved a valuable ally in the eventual defeat to Smithy's gang.

New Super Mario Bros.

While on a sunny stroll, Peach was kidnapped by Bowser Jr. after Mario was distracted by a stormy cloud attacking her castle. In this instance, Peach was kidnapped outside of the castle while spending time alone with Mario.

Super Mario 3D Land

The opening cutscene says Peach was kidnapped during a nightly thunderstorm. As several postcards reveal, Peach did manage to escape from captivity, defeating a stack of Goombas, only being returned when she had to resort to running away from Bowser's overwhelming forces, including Bowser himself.

While Mario was flying Peach back to her castle, Bowser tried to grab her from Mario's arms while on a stack of Goombas before the stack collapsed in on itself.[5]

While Mario was in the Special Worlds, Bowser had managed to kidnap Peach again.[6]

When Mario was escorting Peach back to her castle, Bowser tried the Goomba stack plan again, but failed.

While having a friendly dinner with her invited friends, the castle was being shot at by Bowser's airship, had her friends thrown away, before her castle was transformed to have raining meteors protecting it and its waters turned into boiling lava.

In this instance, Peach's means of defense (Mario, Luigi, Blue Toad, Yellow Toad, and Toadette) were thrown out of the castle, and Bowser held an overwhelming fleet of ships. Most importantly of all, this was a surprise attack, meaning nobody had enough time to perform a counter-attack.

Super Mario Odyssey

Peach was taken along for a trip around the world before having to be forced into a wedding by Bowser on the moon.

Super Mario Odyssey best demonstrates Bowser's overwhelming power. In every kingdom he moved through, he left behind a trail of destruction and invasions that needed Mario's help to be fixed. The destroyed homes in the Cap Kingdom, the power-siphoning Mechawiggler in New Donk City, the amount of wedding items stolen from some kingdoms, the taming of the waste-laying Ruined Dragon, etc.

Super Mario Run

Peach was kidnapped while having her castle and all surrounding homes completely destroyed. The reason for this kidnapping was to antagonize Mario and get Peach's cake instead.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

On a stay at The Last Resort, Peach was kidnapped and sealed inside a painting by King Boo as part of his scheme in getting revenge on Luigi. In this instance, Peach was on vacation and had no suspicion that she were being lured into a trap. The fact this is also occuring at night implied the attack was planned while everyone was intended to be asleep. A bent parasol in her room also supports the idea that she fought back before being sealed a painting.[7]
