Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! was Donkey and Diddy Kong's rescue from Baron K. Roolenstein in the Northern Kremisphere.

History

Months after their victory against King K. Rool, Dixie Kong found out Diddy and Donkey Kong have gone out to explore the islands. However, after being gone longer than she is comfortable with, Dixie swam to the nearest mainland, that being the Northern Kremisphere.[1]

Dixie met up with Wrinkly Kong, who said she saw the two Kongs walk by without a sound, and then asked her to find any Banana Birds she may encounter along the way.[2] Moving along to Funky's Rentals, Funky Kong said he only had Kiddy Kong visiting, who then joined Dixie in her search party.[3] Cranky Kong was also there, training his moves to have his own adventure eventually.[4] And Swanky Kong is hosting a sideshow virtual-reality game.[5]

At the end of Mekanos, Dixie and Kiddy encountered KAOS, a mechanical robot that could be the new leader behind the Kremlins.[6] This is revealed to be a disguise in Kastle Kaos, as Baron K. Roolenstein was found to have been behind the creation of that machine.[7] They defeated Roolenstein and Donkey and Diddy popped out of KAOS, previously brainwashed inside the machine.

Dixie and Kiddy returned to the Northern Kremisphere to discover the lost world Krematoa and have a second encounter with Baron K. Roolenstein.[8] While Roolenstein escaped again, the two Kongs managed to find every Banana Bird, which sent them to the Banana Queen who then dropped a giant eggshell on Roolenstein.[9]

Timeline

  • Is said to take place months after the events of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, with no sign of the Kremlings in-between.
  • Must take place after Super Mario 64 as Wrinkly Kong is seen playing Super Mario 64 in her Save Cave.
  • Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong are both captured by the Kremlings, possibly placing this game after they return home from Mario Kart 64.
  • Not too long after the post-game of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, as Wrinkly seems to have only finished teaching recently
  • Wrinkly Kong is still alive, placing this game before future games where she is a ghost.
