Bob-omb Battlefield was a warzone first seen in Super Mario 64. It was the first course visited and is located close to Peach's Castle.
Appearance
Bob-omb Battlefield is a grassy square field with a spiraling mountain. Several elevations or pits were covered up by wooden bridges. A gate used to be placed housing a Power Star, but has since been removed as of the Peach's Invitational tournament.[1].
The grass used to have a bleak color due to excessive war causing it to die up, but has since been restored to a healthy color.
Events
Super Mario 64
Bob-omb Battlefield was the centerstage of a war between the Pink Bob-ombs and the black Bob-ombs, the latter side being led by King Bob-omb. The area was split into two territories, with the black Bob-ombs taking most of it.
During the events of Super Mario 64, Mario, Luigi, and Wario entered this area via a painting from Peach's Castle but were ambushed by the other bosses, sealing them inside their own paintings at the castle. Yoshi arrived much later, and was able to defeat King Bob-omb, relinquishing the Power Star that was given to him by Bowser.
The war was in the Pink Bob-omb's favor, but King Bob-omb returned with a new Power Star from Bowser.[2] He was ultimately defeated and left the field, making the Pink Bob-ombs the victors.[3]
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
In Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, the area was once used as a golf course during the Peach's Invitational tournament.[1] The cup was placed right on top of the mountain where the fight against King Bob-omb took place, who himself happened to be there at that moment.
