Petey Piranha is the mutated leader of the Piranha Plants, allied with the Koopa Troop.
Petey has had a confusing series of appearances, with some believing his Goop-created clones to be one and the same. One way to know when it's a "Fake Petey" is when they're capable of spitting Goop. However, as seen in Mario Strikers Charged, the real Petey can spit mud, which looks different from the clones' brown-white pattern-like Goop.[1] Essentially, the history of his clones in Super Mario Sunshine,[2] Mario Sports Mix,[3] and Mario Power Tennis will be ignored.[4] Mario Hoops 3-on-3 deals with two Peteys as hoops, meaning they must also be clones.
