Captain Goomba is an officer in the Koopa Troop who achieved the rank of Captain of Bowser's minions after rescuing Bowser and multiple other members of the army from, as Ludwig von Koopa states, a "dire situation in the Beanbean Kingdom" alongside Captain Shy Guy, Captain Boo and Captain Koopa Troopa. However, despite his efforts, after discovering Captain Goomba was responsible for his amnesia in the Beanbean Kingdom, Bowser took away his rank and flag, though he eventually regained his status by the time other threats arrived the Koopa Kingdom.

After the attack, the stored Goomba landed on Hoohoo Mountain where he witnessed Bowser flying through the skies after he was shot by a cannon in Stardust Fields.
